All songs must be performed live. Programmed tracks/instrumentation are permissible but must be triggered live on stage. All songs MUST be approved prior to your acceptance into the competition and should not contain any explicit lyrics. Please email your set list and a YouTube link with a short demo of one song by Monday October 28th.

During signup, you will need to submit your set list including a YouTube link with a short demo of one of your songs. If you are performing original music for one or both songs, please perform that as your demo or submit a link to an audio recording so we can approve. Any changes to your set list must be approved prior to the competition.

Prizes

  • Prize given in each division (Middle & High School) based on judging categories.

  • Special judges awards

Equipment

We will provide various equipment on stage for bands to use, including a 5-pc drum kit, keyboard with amp, guitar amps, bass amp, and vocal mics and stands. Musicians are encouraged to use house equipment. Bands will be required to bring any other individual instruments including guitars, basses, effects pedals, tuners, instrument cables, patch cords, woodwinds, and various percussion. Sound equipment and extra cables will be provided. You may choose to bring your own drum kit, keyboards, and amps to use only if it is noted on your registration sheet and details have been worked out with PSMA. Please let us know your band setup and requirements and what equipment you will be bringing so we can schedule your warmup and line up times. Bands may bring one “roadie” with them to help with setup/break-down. We will need to line you up at least 20 minutes prior to your performance to coordinate a smooth transition onto the stage. There will be roughly 5 minutes between bands so please be ready to plug in and play for your performance slot.

Judging Categories

Middle School and High School will have their own divisions. If a band has mixed middle and high school members, the average age will be calculated as of the performance date. Age 14+ will compete in the high school category. Bands will be judged on Stage Presence, Musicianship, Preparedness, Audience Engagement and Best Original or Best Cover. Within one week of the conclusion of the event bands will receive judges feedback, a great tool to improve on their craft!
